Crossing the street

I've been in some hot situations before...

I remember getting out of a rental car in Tempe, Arizona, once, and running as fast as I could across the hot asphalt parking lot to the sanctuary of an air conditioned department store, to get away from the 116 F summer heat that was melting my tennis shoes.

I once walked 2 days across black crusty molten lava dunes on the big island of Hawaii with a research scientist from the University of Hawaii so I could see up close an active volcano splurting out orange lava from a crater.

I fell asleep on a beach in Puerto Vallerta, Mexico, once, and no amount of Tequila could drown out the intense burning sensation of flesh peeling from my back.

But today, I was crossing Fu Hsing N. Rd. at the Nan King intersection, and got stuck halfway when the little green guy suddenly turned red, and all hell broke loose, brutally exposing me to the 2:30pm merciless Tropic of Capricorn sun and the thick scooter exhaust and aircon emissions rising off the reflective white stripes of the crosswalk. 180 seconds of that, and I was pretty hot.

3q2u is an acronym which if said in Chinese and Japanese sounds like "Thank you to you!" Dumb but easy to remember. More >>
