Sucky tennis

I've partnered up with some new keep-in-shape friends; Alvin and Dr. Feng. It's very hard in Taiwan to find friends who are willing to get sweaty. It's easy to find guys to chase skirts with or get drunk, but getting a group together to play squash, softball, or tennis is tough. That's why I really appreciate Saturdays on the court with these guys. I hadn't played tennis since like college, but always enjoyed the game, and of course watching Anna K do her thing. I'm pretty sucky, but athletic and fast, so I get by. Racquet ball and squash experience kind of helps, but that whole follow through thing is tricky. Now I've even figured out a way to work on my serve off court without chasing balls all over the place. I'm measuring off 15 paces from the long brick wall of the South African ambassador's house up the hill from me, and duct taping out a mini strike zone to aim for...and I'm bringing about 10 balls and my faithful dog, Chou Chou, who loves playing fetch, and'll chase down the balls happily and bring them back to me. Should work pretty well, and will surprise the guys next week with my Agassi accuracy. (Say that fast ten times, and you'll sound like a steam train...)

3q2u is an acronym which if said in Chinese and Japanese sounds like "Thank you to you!" Dumb but easy to remember. More >>
