In search of the perfect massage

There's a zillion massage places in Taipei. You can get your feet tortured, your back stomped on, your face moulded, and your willy whacked. These masseuse/masseur range from chiropractors, to call girls, to government sponsored blind people, to out of work mafia types with short curly hair, to beauticians, to someone who is willing to squash people's bodies for salary plus a commission.
Needless to say, it's hard to find the perfect set of hands. And you are always comparing to Bali or Thailand or China or Europe or wherever you remember getting that one truly great massage. So it's hit or miss.
I've walked out of too many places feeling worse than I did when I went in, sometimes taking a week in the pool to recover. But not Sunday. Irene and I found a new place in Tien Mu, got the standard ouch-ohh-yikes foot massage then got a serious, I means ser-i-ous rub down. To balance the chi, males get a masseuse, while females get a masseur. I always prefer a big beefy guy to tenderize me, but what the hell I thought, let the little girl work on my beef jerky back. About 2 minutes into lying on that massage bench, breathing through that little hole, I realized I had found a perfect set of hands, at least for my back.
Now I have to wait again until next Sunday.

3q2u is an acronym which if said in Chinese and Japanese sounds like "Thank you to you!" Dumb but easy to remember. More >>

I have also been searching for the perfect massage in Taipei. You are spot on--it is hard to stop yourself from making comparisons after getting massages in Thailand and Bali and Europe. Unfortunately, I have yet to find the perfect massage in Taipei, and like you said, often walk out feeling worse than when I walked in. Can you share the name (and address) of the place you went to? Thanks. (And I promise I won't go next Sunday to the same place.)

So there are two of us out there getting mangled in search of the perfect massage...
Typical, I forgot to pick up a card, so you need to navigate. Chung Shan N. Rd, Section 7, across the street from the Sizzler, before you reach Pizza Hut. There's a place on the corner of that alley, on Chung Shan, which looks sort of like a tea shop at first glance, until you see the feet massage benches inside. They have rooms downstairs for body massages. $1500+. #15 was the set of hands which worked on me.
Good luck.
