Momentum

I'm bummed. I've been trying to achieve the simple goal of exercizing 30 min a day for 21 days in a row. Why? Well, according to some article I read somewhere, it apparently takes 21 days to create an effective habit.

So I get some momentum going, swimming, jogging, a bike ride, then wham, a typhoon comes. Build up momentum again, and wham, a business trip. Catch up again, and wham, and I forget my work out clothes. Now I get up into nearly 10 days straight and I get some weird head cold that wipes me out and I miss a day.

Every time I stop, I have to start over. I'm thinking this will never end.

On a positive note, I saw Matthew for lunch. He's looking good. Living on Maui for a year has totally mellowed him out from the corporate evil empire of the music business. He's thinking of moving back here, and I'm like, "Why, you've been living in paradise. Are you nuts?" We talked about some business we're into, shared some ideas, and enjoyed a couple of scoops of fresh gelato. Two scoops of gelato each, a piece of cheese cake, and two cups of tea. $980 please. Yikes. Why is he moving back here?

I suggest a migration to Kaohsiung Bien Shi around the corner for some killer hong yo chao shou [little dumplings in hot red oil], and while on the subject of tasty hot dumplings, he tells me there's this other killer place he's addicted to across the street in the basement of some weird shops that's been there for 20 years, so we cross the street and go downstairs past the tacky clothes and find a line wrapping around a small counter waiting for some more hong yo chao shou. We gulp down three more bowls and are satiated. $120 please. That's more like it.

3q2u is an acronym which if said in Chinese and Japanese sounds like "Thank you to you!" Dumb but easy to remember. More >>
