24hr flower power

Ok, it's 3:00am, we've closed the club, and are dropping off fresh nian-gao presents to friends who are of course still up, since it's a Friday and they're already getting started on their new year mahjong binge.

We pass a flower market in Neihu and Irene screams "Stop the car!" and we all jump out and wander around the largest display of colors and flowers I have ever seen in my life. A 24 hour flower market? Only in Taiwan.

Of course we buy everything - The eucalyptus plant that smells remarkably like Pledge, various cool herbs, a beautiful hanging plant that's called a "dancing lady," some nice smelling white flowers, a deep green bush named "cigar," a bunch of leafy purple flowers, and an assortment of dog proof horticulture that will look good on the porch, keeping us ahead of the Jones.

The week of rest which is not really rest is upon us again. It's Chinese New Year!

3q2u is an acronym which if said in Chinese and Japanese sounds like "Thank you to you!" Dumb but easy to remember. More >>
