Blast from the past

I was just preparing to knuckle down to some serious work. Pen in hand, notebook open, notes scattered around, cigar burning away, when Allen, the singer from Chicken Rice walks in with another older guy.

"Hey Corbett. Is that you?!"
I kind of bend my neck backwards to take a second look, and I still don't know who it is. "Dude, you remember me?"

Think think review.... Scan the hard drive.... Searching searching...
Then it suddenly occurs to me. Jesus, that's Levi Chen. I hadn't seen him since 1989 when we were playing together in a band. We start right into talking about the music. He's been busy, recently on top of the New Age charts with a new album, Levi's been playing all over the world, following his muse, doing whatever it takes to find his sound.

What a blast from the past.

Levi's dad was big in academic and political circles. He was a National Security Advisor, then later Vice Defense Minister. I remember him being totally supportive of Levi's desire to go a separate alternative path. Interesting mix of elements in that family.

I'll see what I can do to help him get management locally and set up a Taiwan tour. Should be interesting.

3q2u is written by Corbett Wall, and is really just a window into my quirky little world. It's also a way for me to exercise my thoughts and make random comments outside of cultural, language, or business barriers.

3q2u is an acronym which if said in Chinese and Japanese sounds like "Thank you to you!" Dumb but easy to remember. More >>
