Taikanglu

Right down the street from my house is a cool artsy touristy cafe ridden bastion of bohemianism filled with little trendy shops and galleries that I only discovered this weekend when a Taiwanese artist friend took me there. Now I have a place to wear my beret. Obviously I didn't want to share any pictures of something you can already imagine, so I turned around and took photos of things I saw instead.

Taikang Lu: Breakneck gentrification! We saw the trendy foreigners sipping wine & making their scene while the old time neighbor-folks stood (in their pajamas) watching the show in befuddlement. My kids' stepdad has his office there, and there are 2 DVD supermarkets on Ruijin Er Lu at the beginning of Taikang Lu. If I lived in Shanghai, I suspect I'd be spending plenty of time in that neck of the woods.

3q2u is an acronym which if said in Chinese and Japanese sounds like "Thank you to you!" Dumb but easy to remember. More >>
