We're just different

My colleague Lauri posted these cool images on her work blog which I thought elegantly stated many common East/West differences/misconceptions. She found them here, which credits them to a Chinese raised in Germany.

The BLUE represents a Westerner and the RED represents an Easterner:

Re: Things that are new:

Do Easterners adopt new things faster than Westerners? Am I missing something?

I think it's safe to say that Asians in general adopt new technologies faster than Western counterparts. For example, the subscription rates for mobile technology here are all much higher than in the West, and DVDs proliferated much faster here than in the West. Also, mass transit systems are more advanced here, etc. The same goes for FMCG products, clothing, eyeglasses, etc. Mainly I think Westerners are slower en masse to accept new things, while things are changing much faster here in the East, and consumers can accept new things easier.

3q2u is an acronym which if said in Chinese and Japanese sounds like "Thank you to you!" Dumb but easy to remember. More >>
