The first cut

You know you're old when someone gives you 56GB of mp3s, and you spend a week going through each folder to sample artists you've never heard of and deleting nearly 70% of it.
This sure is a different musical experience than standing around the used record shop digging through peach crates and cutout bins. I kinda miss the old way. At least I carried something out under my arm afterwards, and was excited to put something on when I got home. Now it's sort of like twitter vs a martini, or youtube vs madison square garden, or lonelyplanet.com vs just go there and figure it out.
Sometimes I just want to go somewhere where there're other people doing the same thing, worried that you'll get the good album before they do, and emote shared competitive musical vibes. Why can't they set up a bunch of macs in a small smelly room with a bunch of posters on the wall, good loud music playing, and a cute chick in Allstars and a tomboy haircut behind the counter who'll give you a deal if you picked out something she likes?

3q2u is an acronym which if said in Chinese and Japanese sounds like "Thank you to you!" Dumb but easy to remember. More >>

You cut 4 Hero and Boards of Canada? I'd recommend that you keep those two. Both are really good easy listening electronics.

Ok, I went back and took a relisten. The reason 4 Hero got cut was because it was just one track from the Fabriclive 15 album and I didn't like the Jazzanove remix. Sounded like lounge music meets a Mint DJ on a Monday night. Boards of Canada sounded like some guys who sat around too long in a locked room during the winter fiddling around with knobs trying to make something musical but actually are gear freaks not musicians. I only had four tracks from an unknown album, so maybe I'm not doing them justice. If you have more of their stuff please share.
