Baoying, The Lotus Root Festival, and 科贝特墙

Last week I was invited to Baoying (宝应), a small city two hours north of Nanjing almost to the Shandong border. Baoying is a 1 KFC town with almost a million residents. It's famous for making a lot of copper wire, and it's beautiful lotus gardens. Actually the invitation was through the city government to attend their Lotus Root Festival and talk about ways to bring foreign investment to Baoying.

Once we got out on the little boats to paddle through the lilies, our boat hostess sang for us:

Earlier in the morning we had a Q&A session with the mayor and a room full of city officials. I enjoyed the official reworking of my name and am thinking of keeping it:
